Relax ... by John Gresham

I wish that I would have listen to what my teachers told me when I first enter high school. They told me the most important thing in school is to get your grades and make sure that that you pay attention, come to school everyday. But me I wanted to be Mr. Bad ass and just play around all the time and just settle for a C for a grade in my class all I wanted to do is pass the class and let it be over with all that came back in hunted me though when I got In the 12th grade it Is very hard for me to get in school and I struggle everyday thinking to myself wishing that I would have paid attention in school. I think some of the rules in high school is a little harsh though and if they was to changed some of them school would be ran way more smoothly. Like I think students should be able to leave and go get them some food at lunch time instead of having to eat the lunch room food everyday. And another thing is that everybody in high school is partly grown so ion think no teacher should be able to take your phone when its out because it could be some very important going on with your family that you really need to know bout and if you don’t got your phone it really wouldn’t be a way for you to find out. I think teachers should make closer relationships with all there students because if a student feel loved he will want to come to your class everyday and make sure that all his work get done and does whatever you need for them to do. Also being mean or writing a student up is not the only way to settle a student sometimes students just need someone to talk because there parents at home don’t really pay them attention.

  1. John,
This post is probably the letter that can really turn a freshman's expectations around completely. I liked how you mentioned your emotional experiences and hardships that has, in turn, made you grow and realize how important attending high school and recieving a high school education is in your personal life. Many teachers do, sometimes, send a student out of the classroom to stand out in the hallway and have the opportunity to take a breather before they go out with them and discuss their issues with the class, with a classmate, etc. Good work, man.

  2. i agree that grades are the most important thing and that you have to sit everything else aside even though that sounds impossible. and if they were less strict school would go by smoother.and if teachers are close to their student they will be more sucessful

  3. i do think that you should try your best and try to get more than just an a. i think that of teachers were nicer than students will come to class more often. students should have more rights.
